propaghandi, anti-flag, ten foot poll, H2O, operation ivy, rancid, nofx, common rider, millencolin, lagwagon, hi standard, good riddance, and if you want some chill irsh punk check out flogging molly or dropkick murphys. they arnt for everyone, but i like em. that covers most ends of punk, unless you want something like crass, but i for some reason doubt that

From Autumn to Ashes. Finch. Coheed & Cambria. Thursday is probably my favorite band for right now. I tend to go through phases. Radiohead is always good. This is pretty much what I have been listening to steadily for the past few weeks. It changes depending on my mood.

I'm sorry that you missed it. Want to hear something really shitty? Well, the one that I went to was in NY and it was in the middle of the summer and we were in a draught. So there was all this dust up in the air near all the bands from kids dancing. It was sooooooo thick. I had such a hard time breathing. They were selling Michael Jackson masks because of this. Also, it was like 100 degrees out.

Thanks everybody  That gives me a lot to try out. :)

not your style but certainly lesserknown is the CD that i've been listening to for the last month without listening to ANYTHING else is Alizée - Gourmandises. she's french and sings pop. i set my personal record listening to her cd. in 2 days i listened to one song set on repeat from that cd for a total of 11 hours.

her site: www.moi-alizee.com

yes there is an english version once you get past the flash intro. look to the top-right.

i know some french so its very interesting to me. actually i think i'm going to change my avy and sig here once i get internet on my computer. most of my other forums are her now.

btw... you can dl her songs on Kazaa (and music vids) to get an idea of what they sound like. the CD can be purchased online internationally through Tower Records for 18 bucks. not bad for imported goods.

Finch...I've heard one song of theirs that I'm in love with. I believe it's called 3 words or 3 simple words...something to that extent. I like the uh, I guess I should say layering of the vocals. They're coming to CT w/From Autumn to Ashes in Feb. Or so I'm told but I know that I'm def going if that is in fact the case.

if any of you guys are around the Atlanta area, then you may have heard this group, they are called Group X. They are an "Arabic" rap group. Really, its like 3 white guys from Tennesse, with accents, and they rap kinda like KoRn. They are hilarious, i highly suggest them...

ChrisCantSkate

he sounded like he wanted more punk/alternative type music. like indie bands and unknown record lables.

I don't understand how they're "Arabic" if they're from Tennesee. Is it a poser accent like that of Shaggy?

I know that everyone likes different things so I'm really not trying to knock anyone. I'm just merely stating my opinion as we're on the subject of music. The majority of rap really just annoys me. I'm really not into music that I can't relate to in one way or another. I really don't like to hear about hittin it from the back or Missy Elliot's thong or her cha cha or how this guy busted a cap or. There are rappers that I do like. Not because of what they say but just because of how it's presented. I don't know if that sounds right. Basically, it's just all about the beats. Ludakris. Busta. The BigTimers. 50 cent is ok too. In regard to Busta, the man has mad talent. In terms of hard core music combined with rap, it is all about Candiria.

you could probly add Jay-Z and Dr Dre to the list too.. they've been around for more than a minute and have put out some good stuff

i think all music turns bad when the band wants to make money and producing good music isnt first on thier list.

I think a very big part of how I feel in regard to that is that it's not really instrumental. When I listen to my music there are certain parts of songs that just get me and I'm like, "this is the best part". You know...I guess I could say that it makes feel something. With rap, it's just all noises to me. I like some techno every now and then though and to some, that can be considered noises. What sucks is that I have a pretty large group of friends and they're all close minded when it comes to music. The majority of them, I grew up with. And back in the day, it was all about listening to the Dead and things of that sort. But they're still all really into that. And they won't give what I'm into now a chance. Out of everyone, I would say that there are maybe 5 people that share the same taste in music as me or are willing to be open-minded. Noooo. I don't like Jay Z. I find him annoying along with P Diddy. I don't dislike TuPac, I just never could get into it.

i don't like rap either, although i found there are some good songs, but i can't name any songs. I'm into the techno/euro pop music. i guess those 18 years that i lived in europe really influenced me. also rock and punk rock sound very appealing to me.

msvtec14
01-17-2003, 09:57 AM
Lemme see if I can say what I want to say properly. There's a lot of techno that does not have lyrics. So the actual sound of it I think has to make up for the lack of lyrics that one could get into. I don't know if that makes sense but that's why some of it is really kick ass.
