if I put sound mats (dynomat) all over the interior of the car, including under the dash and carpet, would the inside sound quieter in general? My car is pretty loud from exhuast and the ram intake, louder than my friends sol w/ same, and Ive just gotten sick of having to yell to talk when on the highway. Would the mats work for this or am I just stuck w/ it

It should. Dynamat is a sound deadening material. I put it inside my hatch to keep from rattling from the subs. I also put it in my doors to help keep road noise out.

It would, but you'd probably slow your car down with all of that weight.

Yeah it'd quiet it down a lot actually. I have a friend at work that has a Lancer (bleh) and he did everything. including the hood...
I rode in there before he did it, and after, and wow. it sounds like my dad's Aurora(as far as engine/road noise). I work at Ultimate Electronics though and we get that stuff for like less than half price... :)

pdiggitydogg,

Forget Dynamat. Check out this website:

http://www.b-quiet.com/index.html

It's canadian stuff and their products work as good or better than Dynamat. Plus they are cheaper, which has been a deciding factor for me. I bought 25 square feet (enough for two layers) of B-quiet extreme for my 1999 Civic EX's trunk to quiet down my cat-back and prep for a bazooka sub that's going in this spring. The guy from the website told me that I should very happy with his product.

Other people here mentioned his stuff, mainly Brownbread, but he has a lot of other sound deadening stuff there. I am planning on getting the H-Liner for the inside of my hood and maybe some V-comp to put on the flooring and inside of the firewall. My car should be quiet like a Lexus inside when I am done...

Check this stuff out...

try edead or fat mat.....the best stuff ever.....also.....when you go to a soundshop to get stuff installed and dynamated they will spray ruberized undercoating on some spots....like the trunk lining....you can buy that undercoating for like $3 at autozone....i used it and it worked almost as good as completely dynamatting everything.........but.....you have to make sure not to touch it for atleast a month....thats the only downside...since the ruberized stays kinda tacky....you could use the non ruberized stuff but it doesnt work as well...but still works......and you can touch it after a day or so.....just makesure everything is masked off cause its really hard to get offa surfaces that you dont want it on
