Well guys, I'm looking into buying a webcam now... a few of you know why, so keep your mouths shut:pfft:... anyways, I want it to have a function where I can hit record, walk away from it, and have it record onto my HD... whats the best kind to get for ~50USD?

Heh im not, dont worry... it really is more of a joke between my G/F and I... I mess with her about having one in the air-vent of her room, and Im gonna hook this up in her air vent, then plug it into her cpu and freak her out when she gets home one day and sees herself on her own cpu:yes:

Just do a search for Webcams... There are a bunch of them thatll probably work for you. I cant give you any specifics because I dont use any.

get one with ccd imaging there is another form out there but its shit and is really horrible.

I use an intel cs630. It does the job as a webcam, and as a standalone digicam. I don't know how to record to a file though, you may need a special program to accept video input. Search for a program instead of the hardware. You can pick up a bottom of barrel camera for like 30 bucks. I paid 100 but that was long ago.
