Getting Referrals

How do you refer someone and get credit for it.

I'll answer your second question first..

When the person registers, they need to put your forum username in the "referred by" field of the registration.

How you refer them is up to you. We have a pretty handly little referral box on the front page, you just fill in your name and email as well as their name and email... It then sends them all the info they need to visit the site. Or, you can do it the old fashioned way - send them an email on your own, call them up or drag them to a computer and show them ;)

Everytime I try to refer someone, an error comes up and says oopps, the email was incorrect, please try again.

Could you clarify a little more? What section are you in when you are getting this message - is it from the refer a friend section of the main site?

yes, I put in my name and email addy. Then I put in the other persons name and addy. After I hit the button, it says something like incorrect email, please go back.
THis might be a stupid question but does he already have to be signed up and then I do the refer thing.

Hmm...that's an odd one. No, they do not have to be registered. The referral box and the boards are two seperate entities. I'm going to head over and check it out to see what I can figure out.

Another way to get info out, is put something on your website ( if you have one). That's what I just did, just telling people to come check it out and if they enjoy it, to sign up and become members. That bag is MINE baby!! Keep the beer...I'm a Pepsi man. :D
