Threw caution out the window about two weeks ago and ordered a Powermac G4 w/ 17" Studio Display. After having to deal with Fed-Ex losing the computer and speakers in Providence, RI for nearly a week and losing my temper with them, the machine arrived late last week.
Here's some pics of the setup:

I loaded it up with Photoshop, Macromedia Studio (Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand), a digital recorder for the TV, and a host of other goodies. Already pretty pleased with the machine...
If you're in the market for a new computer, the Macs are worth looking into

I don't like Macs for the stuff I do, but for multimedia editing, etc. they are pretty good.

Black socks never get dirty. The longer you wear them the stronger they get...

I didn't word that very well. I like to dual boot windows and linux, and run just linux on one of my computers. I also like to game a lot so Macs just don't cut it for me.

PCs can do those things. I have friend who are in the graphic arts fields, and many students in similar majors use Macs.

Ahh.. Good ol' RISC.
I'm not a MAC user, but I can definately respect their power.

PCs beat macs at any benchmark you can run on a mac. PCs now are actually faster than macs at photo editing and video editing...
*edit*BTW here (http://www.dvformat.com/2002/11_nov/reviews/cw_macvspciii2.htm) is a link to a mac being slaughtered

In my simple opinion, Apple has done a good job of remaining a viable option in fringe computing; hovering around 5% of the market ever since I can remember. They are the 'Betamax' of the computer world. They did this by giving away millions of computers to schools. To this day, 75% of Mac users are college graduates. PC's, on the other hand, are like the Borg. You have to hand 'it' to them - Apple has done a great job of surviving the onslaught.
My only problem with Macs is that programmers can add as well as anybody. Sure, most standard software is made for both Mac's and PC's, however, most 'new' applications are made for PC's first. Mac users often have to wait months or years for 'new' programs to become available, if and when they ever become available at all.
My problem with PC's is they are 'salad bowl' computers; take a bunch of cards, throw 'em in a box and see what you happens. Doesn't have sound? No problem. Take out that 10 year-old soundcard that's covered in dust and swap it with the one in your wife's machine. That's the name of that game.
PC's are okay at most things, but they don't do anything particularly well. They are mediocre computers at best, designed for the lowest common denominator in computer society, clueless low-end users and gamers. They are the Honda CiViC of the computer world.
Having said that, 90% of businesses use PC's, and most of them are running mission-critical applications on W2K. So, if you want dependability on your PC, this is the OS to use.
